Instructions for authors

CognitivaTech: Intelligent Software Engineering and Adaptive Systems is an international open-access scientific journal that employs a double-blind peer review process and publishes original research and review articles in software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, intelligent systems, computer science, and related disciplines.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors must ensure compliance with the following instructions.

1. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared using the official CognitivaTech template in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. Submissions that do not comply with the formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the editorial evaluation process.

Citation Style: The journal adopts the Vancouver style.

2. Manuscript Originality

Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and must not be under consideration by another scientific journal simultaneously.

The journal accepts manuscripts previously deposited in recognized preprint servers. Authors must declare this during the submission process and provide the corresponding DOI or URL.

Simultaneous submission, redundant publication, self-plagiarism, or any practice that compromises scientific integrity will be handled in accordance with the journal's editorial policies.

3. Submission Requirements

Before submission, authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript complies with the journal's official template.

  • The version submitted for review does not contain any information that could identify the authors.

  • All authors have a valid ORCID identifier.

  • A corresponding author has been designated.

  • The submission metadata have been completed correctly in the OJS platform.

4. Publication Language

The journal accepts manuscripts in English and Spanish.

Regardless of the manuscript language, the title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in both languages to enhance international visibility and indexing.

5. Manuscript Structure (IMRaD Format)

  • Title: Clear, concise, and informative.

  • Abstract: Structured into objective, methodology, results, and conclusions, with a maximum length of 250 words.

  • Keywords: Between 3 and 5 terms representing the manuscript's content and facilitating indexing.

  • Introduction: Background, rationale, and research objective.

  • Materials and Methods: Study design, data or participants, procedures, tools employed, and ethical considerations when applicable.

  • Results: Objective presentation of the findings using text, tables, and figures where appropriate.

  • Discussion: Interpretation of the findings, comparison with previous studies, study limitations, and research contributions.

  • Conclusions: Main findings and contributions of the research.

  • Declarations: Author contributions (CRediT), funding, conflicts of interest, data availability, and the use of artificial intelligence tools, where applicable.

  • References: Prepared according to the Vancouver style, with a minimum of 25 references. All references must include their DOI whenever available; otherwise, the official URL or permanent link to the source must be provided.

6. Tables and Figures

Each manuscript may include a maximum of 4 tables and 4 figures.

Tables must be submitted in editable format and numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance in the text.

Figures must be submitted in JPG, PNG, or TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and must include a corresponding title.

7. Scientific Integrity

Research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive information must comply with applicable national and international ethical standards and, where appropriate, declare ethics committee approval and informed consent.

All submissions are screened using professional plagiarism detection software before entering the editorial evaluation process.

For similarity thresholds, evaluation procedures, and actions applicable to plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, or any other conduct that compromises scientific integrity, authors should consult the journal's Anti-Plagiarism Policy.
