Open Access, Copyright and Licensing Policy

Diamond Open Access

CognitivaTech: Ingeniería de Software Inteligente y Sistemas Adaptativos operates under a Diamond Open Access model. Published articles are available immediately and permanently online without subscription, pay-per-view payment, reader registration, or embargo. Authors are not charged an APC or another mandatory publication fee. The journal's fee and institutional-support model is described on the Article Processing Charges, Funding and Revenue Model page.

Copyright

Authors retain copyright in their articles without transfer of copyright to the journal. By accepting publication, the authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right of first publication and the non-exclusive rights necessary to publish, identify, preserve, index, disseminate, and maintain the Version of Record. These publication rights do not prevent authors from reusing their own work in ways permitted by copyright law and the license.

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License

All open-access articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). The license terms must be stated on the journal website and on the full text of each published article, including PDF and HTML when available. The following wording reflects the official Creative Commons license deed:

You are free to:

  1. Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
  2. Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
  3. The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

Under the following terms:

  1. Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
  2. No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

Author Self-Archiving and Repository Rights

Authors may deposit the preprint, Author Accepted Manuscript, and published Version of Record in institutional repositories, subject repositories, research profiles, personal academic websites, and other lawful platforms of their choice without an embargo imposed by the journal. When the Version of Record is available, authors are encouraged to include the article DOI and a citation/link to the journal record.

Reuse by Authors

Because authors retain copyright, they may reuse their article in later scholarly works, teaching materials, institutional repositories, theses, presentations, and other lawful contexts. When reusing the Version of Record, authors should preserve accurate citation and license information and should not imply journal endorsement of a modified version.

Third-Party Material

Some figures, photographs, maps, scales, datasets, software, quotations, or other third-party material may be subject to rights or licenses different from CC BY 4.0. Such material must be identified with an appropriate credit line, permission statement, or separate license. The journal's CC BY 4.0 license does not override rights that the authors or journal do not own.

Open Access and Editorial Decisions

Open access status, institutional affiliation, and the absence of author fees do not alter the scientific review standards. Editorial decisions are independent of financial considerations.
