Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

All articles published in open access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read, download, copy and distribute.

CognitivaTech: Ingeniería de Software Inteligente y Sistemas Adaptativos processes personal information necessary to operate the journal, conduct peer review, communicate with users, publish scholarly metadata, preserve the scholarly record, and investigate research-integrity concerns. Personal information is used only for legitimate journal and scholarly-communication purposes and is not sold to advertisers.

Information Collected

  • account and registration information such as name, username, email, and contact details
  • academic information such as institutional affiliation, country, biography, ORCID, discipline, and reviewing interests
  • submission metadata, authorship information, correspondence, uploaded files, revisions, decisions, and production records
  • reviewer invitations, acceptance/decline records, review reports, editorial notes, and conflict-of-interest declarations
  • technical information needed for platform security, troubleshooting, access control, and system administration
  • information supplied in complaints, appeals, ethics inquiries, or research-integrity investigations

Purposes of Processing

Information is processed to manage manuscript submission and peer review; verify identity and authorship; communicate with authors, reviewers, and Editors; prepare and publish articles and metadata; register and maintain persistent identifiers; support indexing, interoperability, preservation, and discovery; prevent or investigate misconduct; maintain audit trails; protect platform security; and comply with legitimate legal or institutional requirements.

Published Scholarly Metadata

Information that forms part of the scholarly record, such as author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, article metadata, funding statements, competing-interest statements, and other information intentionally published with an article, is public and may be distributed to DOI registries, indexes, libraries, repositories, preservation networks, metadata harvesters, and scholarly search services.

Peer Review Confidentiality

The journal uses double-blind review. Reviewer identities are treated as confidential and are not published with the article under the standard review model. Submitted manuscripts and review reports are confidential editorial documents. Access is limited to users who require it for legitimate editorial or integrity functions.

Data Sharing with Scholarly Infrastructure

The journal may transmit the minimum necessary metadata or publication files to services used for scholarly communication, such as DOI registration, indexing, preservation, metadata harvesting, email delivery, platform hosting, and integrity checks. Such processing is limited to the functions required to operate, preserve, identify, disseminate, or safeguard the journal and its scholarly record.

Retention

Published metadata is retained as part of the permanent scholarly record. Editorial and peer-review records may be retained after a decision or publication when necessary for auditability, conflict management, appeals, correction of the record, research-integrity investigations, legal obligations, or continuity of journal operations. Weekly backups and preservation copies are managed with access controls appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.

Corrections and Requests Concerning Personal Information

Users may request correction of inaccurate account or profile information through the journal contact channel. Requests affecting published scholarly metadata are evaluated in light of both privacy interests and the need to preserve an accurate and transparent scholarly record. Legitimate author-name changes may be handled without unnecessary disclosure of the reason for the change.

Security and Access

Access to editorial records is limited according to user roles and operational need. Editors, reviewers, authors, and technical administrators are expected to protect account credentials and confidential content. Suspected unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss of confidential editorial information should be reported promptly to the journal.

Cookies and Technical Logs

The OJS platform may use technical cookies, session information, and server logs required for authentication, navigation, security, performance, and platform administration. These technical mechanisms are not used by the journal to influence editorial decisions.
